Will You Let Me In

hardened onto stone,
scared and weather worn,
my heart was shuttered tight,
yet in this darkness there was light,
and the comfort of calm familiar seas.
Knock knock, knock knock, will you let me in?
waves pounded on the dam,
tempest shook the calm,
thunder by lightning lead,
that rode skies overhead
as the seas lost the composure I had instilled
Knock knock, knock knock, will you let me in?
the relentless song
like the mermaid’s pulled me on
would I flounder on the shore,
or would I weather out the storm
to reclaim the comfort of those calm familiar seas.
For once love touched and then denied
the heart has bleed, the tears have dried
and the courage to repeat once again, has fled.
Yet the dream remains, and dreamers dream,
And who is to say which is real
even the comfort of those calm familiar seas
Knock knock, knock knock, will you let me in?
