as I think of how short life truly is,
and of all that I shall never hope to do
overwhelmed by the simple necessity to live.
How I envy those born upon a silver spoon
no need to think of life as we simple folk do.
with sweat and blood our daily bread,
a diet most profoundly humbling.
And in those moments my thoughts turn to you,
and how that sun dispels the shade.
I smile naturally as my soul is warmed
and the doubts that assailed me start to fade.
Our own mortality is safely assured
a reward to all and impartially so,
my thoughts a mirror for countless other souls
itself a thought profoundly humbling.
